This thesis supplements the systematic scientific arguments regarding the impact of FDI on socio-economic development in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Specifically, it develops a concept and analytical tools for assessing the impact of FDI in a provincial-level locality of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic across all three aspects: economic, social, and environmental.
The research results of this thesis can serve as a reference for Bolikhamxay province and other provinces in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic regarding the impact of FDI on socio-economic development.
New points from research and survey results:
The thesis has systematized and clarified several theoretical issues regarding FDI and its impacts on the socio-economic development of a province.
It studies the practical experiences of several domestic and international localities in promoting the positive effects, minimizing and preventing the negative impacts of FDI, and draws lessons for Bolikhamxay province in the future.
From there, it analyzes and evaluates the current state of FDI impacts on the socio-economic development of Bolikhamxay province during the period 2016-2023. This includes identifying achievements, limitations, and causes. It proposes directions and solutions to promote the positive impacts and mitigate the negative impacts of FDI for the socio-economic development of Bolikhamxay province in the future./.
